Early Head Start Participates in Toys for Tots

Christmas can be a hard time of year for many but luckily the Center for Human Services Early Head Start (EHS) gets to participate in the Toys for Tots program. Toys for Tots provides each family with gifts for the children in our program and their siblings. This year was especially hard, so the donations were graciously accepted. Michael Spencer and his team collected hundreds of toys and donated them to our program and many different programs around several counties. Once the donations were received, the dedicated CHS staff were able to sort the toys and deliver them to each family who wanted to participate. This created a very Merry Christmas to all our amazing children, especially in rough times. Early Head Start is grateful to partner with Toys for Tots. It is programs like these that create an abundance of support to our program and the families involved.

EHS is an early education program for children ages 0-3 and prenatal mothers. Through EHS, several different programs are offered: EHS Harris Center, the Partnership program, that partners with many daycare facilities in Pettis County and the Home Visitation program. These three options focus on school readiness, child development, parenting behaviors and more. The Parents as Teachers Curriculum and Gold Curriculum are two of the main educational programs that are set in place. The program also provides hearing, dental and vision screenings for those children who participate. The goal of the EHS program is to serve those families who need assistance. We try to help in any way we can including working with community partners to make sure our families are living without any limitations.
