Sedalia, Missouri, August 25, 2025 – Center for Human Services (CHS) was proud to debut its newest accessibility innovation, a 34-foot Mobile Sensory & Accessibility Resource Center, at the Missouri State Fair, held August 7-17.
Custom-built to serve individuals of all abilities, the Mobile Center featured a calming sensory space with quiet seating and interactive activities, along with a fully accessible restroom equipped with a universal changing table for both children and adults. ADA-compliant ramps on both sides ensured access for all fairgoers. The unit was located near the fair’s main entrance gate and open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Mobile Center was part of the broader Center for Human Services Missouri State Fair Accessibility Partnership, which also included another Sensory & Accessibility Resource Center near Missouri Street, more than 650 feet of accessible matting in the Grandstand area, sensory-friendly hours on the Carnival Midway and a fully accessible map for a quiet less traveled route around the fairgrounds.
Between the new Mobile Sensory & Accessibility Resource Center and the existing Sensory & Accessibility Resource Center, CHS provided support to more than 1,600 individuals at the Missouri State Fair, along with thousands more who utilized the accessible matting to enjoy concerts at the Grandstand.
“At CHS, we don’t just believe in Life Beyond Limitations, we actively live it,” said David Kramer, CEO of Center for Human Services. “The Mobile Resource Center brought vital assistance to families with disabilities, providing accessibility and dignity on wheels.”
