Center for Human Services Revitalizes Greenhouse, Introduces Bloom Beyond

Center for Human Services (CHS) is proud to announce the revitalization of the former Bloomin Gardens greenhouse, now reintroduced as Bloom Beyond. Originally gifted by the Mason Family and located at 1500 ½ Ewing Drive in Sedalia, the greenhouse has long held meaningful potential. Following a period of closure, CHS recognized an opportunity to reimagine the space—renewing its commitment to cultivating plants, empowering people, and fostering meaningful community connections.

Bloom Beyond is rooted in CHS’s mission to help people live Life Beyond Limitations and will serve as a space where individuals of all abilities, across CHS programs and the broader community, can learn, engage, and thrive. The initiative will focus on sustainable practices, skill-building, and community involvement. While programming is still developing, future plans include plant-focused educational classes, hands-on activities, and opportunities designed to meet the interests and needs of participants.

As Bloom Beyond continues to grow, CHS remains committed to expanding its impact in the community. Throughout the month of May, limited spring plant sales will be available Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon, featuring a variety of seasonal flowers and plants. Hours may vary based on staff availability and inventory.

Chief Program Officer Loletta Combs shared, “We are very excited to announce the reopening of the CHS greenhouse, now called Bloom Beyond, originally donated by the Mason Family. In its revitalized state, it will provide opportunities for learning through classes offered on plant-growing methods while increasing community partnership around food access, support, and future program development, creating something meaningful that brings people together.”
