Missouri State Fair

As the Missouri State Fair’s official accessibility partner, Center for Human Services has enhanced the fair experience with sensory and accessibility resources.

For the 2024 fair, an existing building was transformed into the Sensory and Accessibility Resource Center. The renovated space served as a quiet, climate-controlled area with sensory activities and resources for visitors who experienced overstimulation or sensory overload. Open every day of the fair, the center supported nearly 550 individuals and families.

Additionally, Center for Human Services provided over 350 feet of ground matting in the track area of the fair’s grandstand to improve mobility, an accessible map to guide visitors to key resources and amenities, and sensory carnival hours in collaboration with the fair’s carnival operator.

This partnership reflects both ours and the fair’s commitment to paving the way for accessibility by providing an inclusive and welcoming experience for all. Center for Human Services and the Missouri State Fair team continue to collaborate to provide these services for fair visitors.

Mobile Sensory and Accessibility Resource Center

Designed to provide accessibility and inclusion, our specialized mobile sensory trailer offers a safe and controlled environment for individuals with sensory disorders.

Whether for children or adults with autism, ADHD, PTSD, general anxiety, or sensory processing challenges, the trailer provides a space where individuals can engage their senses in a positive and therapeutic way.

Inside, there are a variety of sensory stations that promote stress relief, focus-building, sensory regulation, and calming experiences that can help individuals feeling overwhelmed by loud noises or busy activities reset to a calm state.

The trailer is also equipped with a handicap-accessible restroom that includes an adult changing table for added convenience.

With this mobile sensory trailer, more people can enjoy community events without the need to leave early or avoid attending altogether. To discuss a partnership to bring our sensory trailer to your next indoor or outdoor event, please contact us.
