Who We Are, Who We Serve, and What We Do
The CHS Employment Services Department is designed to provide you or your loved one with assistance in taking the next step whether that be a teen preparing for goals after high school, a graduate looking for work, or an adult needing assistance in finding a great career. CHS has a variety of programs designed to help you find the one that is right for both you and your family.
CHS has been assisting people with disabilities for over 60 years and we truly believe that with this experience we have the skills needed to help people with disabilities find successful employment in the community in a career which excites them. We also pride ourselves in providing support for you through each step in the process from thinking about what type of career interests you through getting the job and even afterward.
How do we find employment opportunities?
One way in which we are different at CHS is that we have a full-time Business Developer who works with each individual to find the meaningful employment which he/she seeks. We have been able to find employment for our individuals in areas like retail businesses, hotel franchises, grocers, construction companies, nonprofit organizations, restaurants, school districts, and the list goes on.
What happens to my benefits if I start working?
We have a full-time Disability Benefits Specialist who can work with each individual on understanding his/her benefits and how working can affect existing benefits. Also, this person has many connections with both Social Security and Medicaid to assist individuals in navigating the confusing benefits network and even finding out about programs to assist in things like buying a car, etc.
