David Moore

David started working with the Employment Services Department at CHS following his graduation from Smith-Cotton High School. David began in a program that was a collaboration between the CHS, Sedalia School District 200, Vocational Rehabilitation, and State Fair Community College. During his time in the program, David worked at internships at the college’s admissions department, the library, and an additional internship in the CHS Human Resources Department.

Dan Bridges, Program Manager, recalled that, “it was easy to see how much progress David had made in such a short timeframe and it was clear that he was dedicated to his goal of attaining a job in the community.”

When the internships were over, David had learned the skills he needed to be successfully employed and quickly put these skills to use at the Missouri State Fairgrounds parking cars during the hectic State Fair. At the conclusion of the fair, David took his talents and strong work ethic to Walmart where he accepted the position of a cart returner. Again, the management at Walmart quickly acknowledged David’s work ethic and dedication, and today you will still see David in the produce department where he accepted a full-time position keeping the area stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables.
