Employment Services focuses on employment and job training programs that offer diverse work,
advancement opportunities, and support services to enhance the employability of people with disabilities.

Persons Served

  • Adults age 16 or older with developmental or other disabilities

General Admission Criteria  

  • Age 16 or older

  • Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification or other funding source identified

  • Behaviorally and medically stable with supports available

  • Approval of Admissions/Placement/Suspension Committee

  • Aptitude to learn new skills and desire to work competitively

Work Center                                                                           

The work center of Cooperative Workshops, Inc. (CWI) provides jobs for people with disabilities. Employees are given opportunities to develop employment goals. They are challenged to develop skills in appropriate areas (vocational, social and personal) to enhance employability either in CWI or in competitive jobs. Staff work with employees to help them reach their desired level of employment. Types of jobs offered at the work center include:

  • Government and commercial contracting

CWI Work Crews provide employment for individuals with disabilities in the community. Supervisors and Trainers assist the employees and teach job skills in  an industrial environment.

Manufacturing Capabilities

Cooperative Workshops, Inc., (CWI) has a combined workforce of 150 employees at our Sedalia and Marshall locations. The Sedalia plant has 50,500 sq. ft., and the Marshall plant has 22,670 sq. ft. Marshall is a satellite facility located approximately 30 miles north of Sedalia.

CWI has the equipment to meet your needs such as forklifts, shrink wrap machines, bag sealing machines, skid wrapping machines and weigh-count scales. Depending on the job, CWI would be willing to purchase additional equipment, if needed.

CWI performs a wide range of unique jobs. We currently manufacture two types of first aid kits through the AbilityOne program (formerly known as JWOD) for GSA.

We are a registered FDA repackager and relabeler. Quality, on time delivery, and great customer service is our goal.

Vocational Training

Vocational Training provides training to individuals who are behaviorally and medically manageable and who have the desire to work in order to develop the skills necessary to gain employment, such as the development of a positive attendance record, socially appropriate behaviors, work attitudes, skills and ethics necessary to meet quality assurance guidelines.
