Union Savings Bank was chartered in 1913 by the State of Missouri. It was first located at Fifth and Engineer in Sedalia. Later, during the depression the main facility was relocated to Main and Ohio and occupied a building owned by a failed bank.

Hebert W. Mason started to work in the bank in 1915 as a bank teller and janitor. In the 30’s the Mason family acquired controlling interest in the bank and Mr. Mason became president. He was a part of the bank for the next 68 years until his death in 1983. His son Robert W. Mason became president upon his father’s death and remained in that office and worked daily at the bank until his death in 2010. He was followed by his son Mark W. who died in August 2011. Other family members worked in the bank serving the community over the years.
